The Preparation: Pre-Care Instructions
Proper preparation is essential for optimal pigment retention and beautiful, lasting results.
General Rules (All Services)
No Alcohol or Caffeine
Alcohol and caffeine thin your blood, which can cause excessive bleeding and lymph fluid during the procedure. This affects pigment retention.
Avoid Blood Thinners
No Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or other blood-thinning supplements. Consult your doctor if you're on prescription blood thinners.
No Skin Treatments
Avoid Botox, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, or heavy sun exposure in the treatment area.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Hydrated skin retains pigment better and heals faster.
The Healing Journey: What to Expect
Understanding the healing phases helps you stay calm and confident throughout the process.
The Bold Phase
Your color will appear 30-50% darker and more vibrant than the final result. This is completely normal! The color will soften significantly as you heal.
Color appears very bold and intense
Slight tenderness or sensitivity
Minimal swelling (especially for lips)
Gently blot area every hour for first 4 hours to remove lymph fluid.
The Flaking Phase
Your skin will begin to gently peel and flake. This is the most critical phase—do NOT pick, scratch, or peel the skin. Let it fall off naturally to avoid patchy healing.
Light flaking or peeling
Dry, tight feeling
Color appears uneven (temporary)
Keep area moisturized with approved aftercare balm. No picking!
The Ghosting Phase
The color may seem to disappear or look very faint. Don't panic! This is normal as new skin grows over the pigment. Your color is still there, settling into the dermal layer.
Color appears faded or 'ghosted'
Skin looks healed but color is light
This is temporary—your color will return
Continue SPF protection. Be patient—the color is coming back!
The Reveal
Your true color fully blooms! The pigment has settled into your skin, and you can now see your final results. This is when you'll come in for your complimentary perfecting touch-up.

Aftercare: The Golden Rules
Follow these critical rules to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results.
Keep it Clean
Gently blot the area with a damp cotton pad every hour for the first 4 hours to remove lymph fluid. After 24 hours, wash gently with our recommended cleanser twice daily.
Hands Off
No makeup on the treated area for 10 days. No touching, picking, or scratching—ever. Let flakes fall off naturally.
No Water Activities
No swimming, hot tubs, saunas, or steam rooms for 10 days. Avoid excessive sweating—no intense workouts for 7 days.
Shield from Sun
Avoid direct sun exposure during healing. Once healed, always apply SPF 30+ to the area to prevent premature fading.
Moisturize Wisely
Apply the provided aftercare balm as directed (typically 2-3 times daily). Don't over-moisturize—too much can draw out pigment.
Skip the Steam
No long, hot showers with your face directly in the stream. No facials or facial steaming for 4 weeks.

Common Questions
Can I drink coffee before my microblading appointment?
No, avoid coffee (and all caffeine) for 48 hours before your appointment. Caffeine thins your blood, which can cause excessive bleeding and poor pigment retention.
How do I treat a cold sore outbreak after lip blush?
If you develop a cold sore despite taking preventive antivirals, contact us immediately. Do not pick at it. Keep the area clean and continue your antiviral medication. Your touch-up appointment may need to be rescheduled.
What if I accidentally get my brows wet during healing?
If your brows get wet accidentally, gently pat them dry immediately with a clean tissue. Don't rub. One accidental splash won't ruin your results, but try to avoid it going forward.
Can I wear makeup during the healing process?
No makeup on the treated area for 10 days minimum. You can wear makeup on other parts of your face, but keep it away from your healing PMU.
Why does my color look so dark right after the procedure?
This is completely normal! Your color will appear 30-50% darker immediately after because the pigment is sitting on top of the skin and there's oxidation occurring. It will lighten significantly during the healing process.
