PMU Removal & Color Correction
Not all permanent makeup ages gracefully. Whether you're dealing with old, faded work that has turned an unwanted color, asymmetrical brows from a previous artist, or simply regret a PMU decision, we specialize in correcting and removing unwanted permanent makeup safely and effectively.
At Beauty Point, we use advanced lightening techniques, color correction theory, and strategic camouflage to transform old PMU into a fresh canvas. In some cases, we can correct existing work by layering new pigment. In others, we recommend lightening or removal before creating your new look. Every correction is customized to your unique situation.

Our Correction Services
We offer multiple approaches to transform your old PMU.
Color Correction
Transform Unwanted Tones
If your old PMU has faded to an unwanted color (orange brows, blue-gray liner, ashy lips), we use color theory to neutralize and correct the tone before applying your desired shade. This technique works when the existing pigment is light to medium in intensity.
Best For:
Saline Removal (Lightening)
Fade Old PMU Safely
Saline removal uses a sterile salt solution to gently lift unwanted pigment from the skin over multiple sessions. This method is safer and gentler than laser removal for most PMU work. It works by depositing saline into the dermis, which draws pigment to the surface as the skin heals and naturally exfoliates.
Best For:
Camouflage & Cover-Up
Strategic Redesign
Sometimes the best approach is to work with what's there. We can strategically camouflage old PMU by designing a new shape that covers or incorporates the existing work. This approach minimizes the need for removal while still achieving beautiful, updated results.
Best For:
Full Removal (Complete Reset)
Start Fresh
For severely botched work, very dark pigment, or PMU in an unworkable location, we recommend full removal before applying new permanent makeup. This gives us a blank canvas to create the brows, lips, or liner you truly want without compromise.
Best For:

The Correction Journey
From assessment to transformation, here's what to expect.
Complimentary Assessment
30 minutesWe begin with a thorough assessment of your existing PMU. We'll examine the color, depth, saturation, shape, and placement of your old work. Using our expertise, we'll recommend the best course of action: color correction, saline lightening, camouflage, or full removal. You'll receive an honest assessment and a clear treatment plan with realistic expectations.
Custom Treatment Plan
OngoingBased on your assessment, we'll create a personalized treatment plan outlining the number of sessions needed, expected timeline, and final outcome. We'll discuss whether you need removal before new PMU or if correction is possible immediately. You'll know exactly what to expect before committing.
Removal or Correction Sessions
Varies by methodIf you're undergoing saline removal, we'll perform multiple sessions spaced 8-12 weeks apart. Each session gradually lifts the unwanted pigment. If you're receiving color correction, we'll apply neutralizing tones during your new PMU appointment. The process is customized to your specific needs.
Healing & Assessment
8-12 weeks between sessionsAfter each removal or correction session, your skin will heal over 2-3 weeks. We'll schedule follow-up appointments to assess progress and determine if additional sessions are needed. Patience is key—removal and correction take time, but the results are worth it.
Fresh PMU Application
Once removal is completeOnce your old PMU has been sufficiently lightened or corrected, we'll apply your new permanent makeup using our Signature Brows, Lip Blush, or Eyeliner techniques. You'll finally have the beautiful, natural results you've always wanted.
Removal & Correction FAQs
Your questions about fixing old PMU, answered.
Can all old PMU be removed or corrected?
Most old PMU can be significantly lightened or corrected, but results vary based on the pigment color, depth, and how long ago it was applied. Very deep or dark pigment may take 4-6 sessions to lighten sufficiently. During your consultation, we'll give you an honest assessment of what's possible and set realistic expectations.
Is saline removal painful?
We use a medical-grade numbing cream to minimize discomfort. Most clients report the sensation is similar to getting the original PMU done—tolerable but slightly uncomfortable. The discomfort is temporary, and the result of removing unwanted work is well worth it.
How long does removal take?
Saline removal typically requires 2-6 sessions spaced 8-12 weeks apart, depending on the pigment density and your skin's response. Complete removal can take 6-18 months. Color correction is usually faster and may only require 1-2 sessions before applying new PMU. We'll give you a timeline during your consultation.
Why not use laser removal?
Laser removal can alter pigment colors unpredictably (turning black brows red or green) and may cause scarring or hyperpigmentation, especially on darker skin tones. Saline removal is safer, more controlled, and works on all skin types and pigment colors. It's the gold standard for PMU removal.
Can you fix brows that are the wrong shape?
Yes. If your old brows are poorly shaped, we can either lighten them with saline removal and create a new shape, or strategically camouflage them by designing a new shape that incorporates or covers the old work. We'll assess your specific situation during the consultation.
How much does removal or correction cost?
Pricing varies based on the complexity of your case and the number of sessions required. Saline removal sessions start at $300 per session. Color correction is often included as part of your new PMU service. During your free consultation, we'll provide a detailed cost estimate based on your needs.
Will I have scarring from removal?
When performed correctly by a trained professional, saline removal should not cause scarring. We follow strict protocols to minimize skin trauma and support healthy healing. Some clients may experience temporary hyperpigmentation (darkening) or hypopigmentation (lightening) during the removal process, but this typically resolves once the skin fully heals.
Can I get new PMU right away, or do I need to wait?
It depends on your existing PMU. If your old work is light and we're using color correction, we can often apply new PMU immediately. If you're undergoing saline removal, you'll need to wait until the pigment is sufficiently lightened and your skin is fully healed before applying new PMU. We'll create a timeline during your consultation.
What if I just want my old PMU removed completely?
That's absolutely fine. Some clients simply want to remove old work and return to their natural brows, lips, or lash line without new PMU. We support whatever decision makes you feel most confident. We'll work with you to achieve complete removal if that's your goal.
How do I know if my PMU can be corrected or needs removal?
Book a complimentary consultation with us. We'll assess your existing PMU, explain your options, and recommend the best approach. We'll be honest about what's realistic and what will give you the best final result. There's no obligation—just expert guidance.
